Do After Retirement Jobs Bring Balance To Your Retirement Living?
What is your answer to the question of “Do after retirement jobs bring balance to your retirement living?
What do you need, for you to have a balanced life? Have you considered what is important for your retirement living years?
Maybe it is time to do a quick review now.
How are your days going? Are you settling into retirement living with a healthy lifestyle? Are you exercising, and eating a healthy diet?
Do you stay active through the day, or does you recliner call out when you pass by? Are you having fun during your retirement?
Have you thought about getting a job?
As retirement time arrived, I found this Chinese proverb was so true, at least for me. The best time, 20 years ago was past, so settling for the 2nd best I joined the Wealthy Affiliate program. Clicking the link with the saying will show you where I learned.
If your thinking that retirement will find you working in a job that teaches you nothing, remember this is just a job. Because it will teach you nothing, you’ll remain stuck there.
So what will you do about it? This is important for retirement employment. Unless you are learning and growing yourself, you probably aren’t enjoying your retirement working life. Even with excellent pay and continued benefits, you will be happier if your ideas are listened to and not just dismissed because you are a senior aged employee.
In our deference to youth, there are roadblocks.
Most employers don’t care very much about what you think. All they care about what you produce. (Here the playing field is fairly level for young and new and old and experienced.) This is usually the blank wall that makes you throw up your hands in frustration and think seriously, “Just leave.”
You become a much more valuable asset when other people care about what you think.
So if all you’re selling is your labor, you’re selling yourself short. Our modern economy is being built on ideas.
Working during retirement can put you at a distinct advantage. Using the experience you have to point out new workable ideas can be the difference in remaining in the background and being a frontrunner for your company.
So now what?
What is the best route for you during retirement?
Do you consider just staying where you are, with resigned frustration or do you do something different?
You, as a retirement-aged employee, have something valuable to give to the world. It’s easier than ever to do it. Give the world, and yourself a chance and see where it leads.
The creative person you were as a child? This is still part of who you are now. You are a vault filled with ideas, just waiting to be unlocked from within.
It’s not a lack of ideas that hold you back, it’s usually a lack of execution.
You tend to wait for someone else to give you permission.
Give yourself permission.
What is it that makes you unique? That is what makes you remarkable. Whatever makes you remarkable? This is what makes you marketable. There’s room in the world for your individual uniqueness. It just might take a little while to find the people who will value your talents and abilities.
What a beautiful thing. To be able to do what you love. Start by being bold enough to try. You have to start somewhere.
Remember, do what brings you peace.
Don’t chase after the world’s goals. In the world, people chase after the same goal. Often they feel rich when they reach the goals. They think they are rich even if they are miserable.
Why? Because they are busy chasing after the world’s dreams. Don’t be a slave to your ego, be a slave to your inner mental contentment.
In other words, don’t sacrifice inner peace in pursuit of money, power, reputation, etc. You are you and don’t have to be like everyone else. Nor do you have to do what everyone else is doing.
Follow your own path, do your own thing, and you’ll get to where you want to be.
Retirement living goals
You will find they are different from the ones you chased during your working years. You know by know the importance for you of life balance.
The difference in worrying about keeping a roof over your head, and that of your family. They are grown now have lives of their own. So some self-assessment is in order. Your concerns in retirement are different.
Getting to where you want to be might not be as much of a struggle. Maybe it’s a different path. Getting to where you want to be isn’t always about acquiring or accumulating things, sometimes it’s about letting things go. About learning to be more content, a more compassionate person, etc.
Don’t allow yourself to chase after what other people want, no matter how good they make it sound. Do what is important to you, even if others don’t understand it.
You are not alone
No matter what it is, you won’t be alone, you will eventually find others who are like you and who will support you.
Life during retirement is short.
It’s really easy to waste the very little time you have. The most important thing to remember in life is to keep your peace. Remember to take a deep breath. Take your time and clear your mind of those disturbing thoughts.
Reverting to the old aggressive attitude often will happen once someone says or does something you don’t like. Those are the moments when it’s most important to “be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.”
That is when you must remember what you want your retirment life to be. Remember why you are doing what you are doing. What is your retirement living dream?
How do you plan to spend your retirement living days? Will you be happy working in a position of less responsibility and pressure? Will this fulfill the retirement need for employment you have?
Wait a minute, have you given any thought to what you want from your retirement employment?
Why are you working during your retirement years? Need the paycheck to finish paying some bills? Have a savings goal?
Those reasons may make it worthwhile to continue for a short while doing what you are doing, even if you aren’t particularly happy with the work.
It is short-term and you will find yourself fully retired soon.
Do you just want to work, and don’t see yourself fully retired?
Starting a business was on your bucket list?

Life is short. And it’s really easy to waste the very little time you have. The most important thing to remember in life is to keep your peace. Remember to breathe, take your time and clear your mind of disturbing thoughts.
However, this advice often pushed to the side, once someone says or does something we don’t like. Those are the moments when it’s most important to “be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.”
The way to find peace is to stop trying to find it. The path to peace is a path of letting go.

This often gets thrown out the window once someone says or does something we don’t like, but those are the moments when it’s most important to “be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.”

A balanced life?
A balanced life isn’t about meeting the world’s expectations. Think about it.
The world will tell you that you must always hustle. Cultural expectations can make you feel that if you miss a soccer game you are a bad parent. Messages from media tell you how much you should weigh or what you should wear.
Trying to meet the expectations of the world will add to your stress.
A Harvard Business School study of 4000 executives found that one of the key factors with executives who successfully handle work and home is how they define success for themselves. The more successful make deliberate choices and don’t lose themselves in the process.
So, a more balanced life is about understanding yourself and what makes you thrive.
Like the guy who runs every day because he says if he doesn’t, he just doesn’t feel human. Running should be a priority for him.
Then I also know a woman who goes to a yoga class because she thinks she needs more balance. Yoga is just one more item on a very long to-do list; she reluctantly attends and admits she hates it. How much balance can she find?
Do you feel balanced when you are doing meaningful work? You also know that you need time to quietly think and read. Friends are important, and you may enjoy your friends, you may not need regular opportunities for margaritas and girl talk. For you it might be just the opposite.
Balance is understanding that there isn’t a mandatory list of things that bring us balance, but that you get to choose what is right for you.
You need to prioritize the things that are important to you.
Balance is about being willing to give up things that don’t matter to do more of the things that do matter. For years watching television hasn’t been important, but is to my spouse, so I watch with him. Spending time with him is important for me.
We have chosen, at our house to slow down a great deal of the cooking we have done in past years. Instead, we prepare the same few simple meals more often. Cooking isn’t important to us and there is no guilt.
We are fed, and happy. There is no longer the need to make some of the more elaborate meals that used to seem so important.
Making your choices on purpose
Can you let go of things that don’t matter to find more time for things that do matter?
Focus on doing the right things can make you happier, less stressed, and more fulfilled.
Will spending a few hours each day building your online business to create a residual income make your retirement days more purposeful for you? Make you feel that you are not wasting your retirement years?
What makes you feel happy and content? A hobby? Will you spend time with grandchildren?
Some of all of the above, that is important to me, that is when I find my balance. How I find my living while retired and loving it. That is how I created my own sunshine. How do you create yours?
Those are the promises of “life balance” and the feelings you want to have when you are balanced.
Does your balance live and thrive in your retirement living? Are you bored with the direction of your daily life during retirement? How can you change that?
Why chase life balance?
You all have the power to make choices every day. Define your own success. Understand what you need to thrive, and make choices that reflect your decisions.
You will finally be able to let go of your worries about finding life balance.
Will balance find you?
So how will your retirement living be? Searching for happiness? Or will you make the right decisions about your daily life and let happiness find you? Will each day find you adding more sunshine?
