Scam Senior Citizens Crimes A common occurrence
It is a fact that when under stress, sensible people make some not so sensible decisions. The end result is it is easy to find victims for scams. So scam senior citizens becomes the racket. What can we do to stop this?
Who is this senior citizen the scammer is looking for?
Someone who will make themselves venerable because they feel desperate. Not a good place to find yourself in.
Have you retired and found yourself in financial hot water?
Unplanned emergency upset what plans you had?
It does happen. We are all apt to be ready to jump for whatever is found in your email box that suggests a quick return for your efforts.
That is how you need money. Quick.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
But the fact is, fast money is usually either illegal or just a come on for a scam operation.
The only one who makes money with those types of opportunities are the scam artists.
The package they prepare for you is pretty. The results guaranteed and overwhelming. Unbelievable.
And unfortunately untrue.
When I was young, a carnival was an annual thing for our small farm and ranch community.
The con guys were good and quick. They were ready.
However, most of us knew they were con artists.
There was always someone to make their job easy and fell prey to the games they played.
Finding yourself retired and needing to earn money is a frightening thing.
This is especially frightening if you have not planned.
Unfortunately, many retirees are finding themselves at this point. They thought they were ready for retirement. But they were not actually prepared.
I will be the first to admit that getting ready for retirement was a neglected chore for me.
There was a last-minute struggle. However, that did not begin till I was 60.! This does not leave one much time to prepare.
However a bit of progress was made, and we are able to have a modestly comfortable retirement time.
At least right now. We both have the genetic makeup to live till we are in our late 90’s or beyond.
In the cold hard facts of retirement living, it seems necessary to prepare with some extra streams of income. First for the retirement, and then maybe to do some of the things we may want to do along the way.
Are you in this position?
Do you find yourself retired and short on money? It may be too late to have quick access to much more money than what you can earn at an entry level job.
Don’t allow yourself to get in debt with a scam attempt at a quick income source.
Now is when you must get out your pencil and paper and make a survival plan. Yes.you need a survive retirement plan. You do not need a scam senior citizens plan.
Let’s talk about where you are now.
Do you need to go to work immediately?
Do you need income to add to your social security check? To keep food on your table and a roof over your head?
Figure out where you are. This plan can help prevent someone trying to scam senior citizens.
The security of the dependable social security check will be the basis that you have to work with.
Haven’t made yourself a budget? Now is the time that must happen.
How much more do you need to earn each month to keep the roof overhead and food on the table? Need more money? If you do, get a job.
You have the facts before you. Maybe working a few hours a week will do what you need.
If you need more than you can make part time, some reviewing of your responsibilities is in order. What can you change to make this more manageable?
What other debts do you have? Have they put you in a money bind? How can you plan to get those things paid off?
How can you get the cost of your daily budget down?
Do you need to downsize?
Do you have some clutter that needs to be sold off to make everyday living easier?
We all come with a certain amount of baggage.
Sometimes that baggage is costing us money.
As you think through each stage of this, write it down.
Put the budget on paper.
Look at it even if it is not pretty.
You need to come to grips with where you are! Grasping at straws to make money during retirement can put you on the radar for a scam senior citizen idea. You need to educate yourself. This is the one true protection against scams! Knowledge.
You cannot know where you are going until you know where you are.
Write down all the facts, good and bad.
Add up how much you need each month.
Write down the amount you have coming in.
Subtract the difference.
Are you actually as bad off as you thought?
Are you in worse shape than you thought?
Know where you are!
Again there is a powerful Mojo in writing down this information.
You can see what needs to be changed.
Will a part-time job help you to stay where you are? Do you even want to stay where you are?
As you began to look at your future, where do you see yourself this time next year?
In 5 years?
Pull this budget apart. What can be changed?
Can you be comfortable with the air conditioner at a higher sitting? Will spending a littl less on utilities allow you to have a few more dollars for paying off debt?
When you have a plan, making a change is easier. You can see the benefit for you.
Your numbers will tell you what you need to work on. You do not have to just sit there and do nothing.
Do not have to just drift through retirement time with no goals. No plan. No bucket list.
I will not use all of the government-backed numbers and statics to back up this statements. They are boring anyway.
They did make me think of the people I know. Roughly 1 of every 8 retiree / senior / citizen will be scammed every year.
I just have my observations and experience. I admit my experience is limited. I have only lived one life. I have learned to plan.
When you make a plan. You have a course of action. The lack of knowledge can make one feel venerable.
Take control and start working to improve the things in life that are holding you back. You will surprise yourself.
Have you ever had a goal that was important enough to you that you made a plan?
Do you think all the good things that retirement time has to offer will just automatically come your way?
That is not how things work. You must plan. You will spend your days in some way. Will you flutter about like a wounded sparrow? Just desperately trying to survive?
Find help and relief somewhere? You do not have to do that! You can live a better life.
You can know what is going on in your life. Financially and personally.
The days do not have to stretch before you endlessly. With no plan to do what you want to. No forward progress.
You must not miss this most precious time in your life, your retirement years.
You have earned them. They are yours.
If you have never taken a moment for yourself to make this plan, do it now.
Make some of the things you want to come about, happen.

What better thing can you do for your family
Show them how to take control of their lives through your example. You can help your family improve their here and now lives as well as their future.
We have been parents forever at this point.
The best example is to get this part right for our family.
I have heard people scoff the idea that planning can make a difference.
When you live your life so completely for right now, your plan will never reach maturity.
Living in the present and living for right now are two different things
Do not ever confuse the two.
The ones who will not plan.
Insist that they do not want to have a schedule.
They want to do what they want when they want.
This lifestyle will not result in a very happy life.
One day may work out well for you. However, tomorrow, when you are living with all the things left undone.
With your money spent that should not have been.
One fun day
Would you change a day for a lifetime of being in control of your future?
Have you lived that way before and want no more of it?
Do you want the calm of knowing what tomorrow will bring?
Do you want to be able to have as comfortable a life as possible?
Do you want to see the dreams you have of the retirement days full filled?
Are you willing to spend some of the time, in your unplanned retirement day, and do some planning!
Plan how to make the days better for you, your spouse, and your family!
You are not a selfish person. You may be undisciplined at times, and make decisions that you wish you had not made.
Those times do not have to be your entire life
You can improve on those times.
You can make better decisions and get back in the driver’s seat of your life.
You can make you a better person, one day at a time.
You can make a plan and make yourself aware of the areas where you need to be more alert. Alert to what is making your retirement life not what you want.
Scams seem to wait on every corner for senior citizens! We all need to be alert.
A written plan will not change the future. Only you can do that.
You can do it by making the changes in you.
A little at a time. Day by day. You can predict your future. You can create it.
When I first learned the power of a written plan, I tried to make these huge shifts in facts.
Make impossible dreams come true. I have since learned that was not the correct way to plan. That was just daydreaming on paper.
A plan is a definite intent to get from point A to point B. How real are your plans? How do you really want to live your remaining retirement years?.
Yes, you are retired, but there are still some choices you can make to make your life better.
Are you willing to do it?
Is planning to learn something new interesting to you?
Do you plan to spend your retirement years with your head in the sand?
Proclaiming that you cannot change things.
This is all you can do? Or will you buckle down, make a plan.
Read and review the plan.
Actually, act on the plan.
Adjust as necessary to get to where you want to be? With a plan in place that shows you what your life can be like, you are in control.
The picture may not be what you had hoped for, but you know where you are headed. You have made a plan, considered the facts. Decided on a plan of action.
You are making yourself scam senior citizens proof. You will not fall for a fast cash scam.

You cannot get everything right the first time
If you are new to planning, you have a lot to learn. Trading reactions to planned actions. It is a good feeling. Instead of questioning the future, you can be excited about it.
The first plan is not always 100% what you want and need.
It is a start. You must learn.
You must get up each morning excited about your day.
Taking the steps that will take you to a better life.
The retirement life you deserve!
