The Natural Remedies for High Blood Pressure for Senior Citizens

Will they make a difference? Lower high blood pressure? For senior citizens?  

Can this help you cut your health care costs?

Are you ready for a new Health Care Cost increase?  That is what we have coming our way. 

Each and every year that we receive  an increase in our Social Security check, guess what?  We get Zero benefit Because the cost of health care also goes up. 

We are left with the deficit.  Our buying power is less.  So we must shave more from the living budget, to make ends meet. 

This is not how I want to live out my retirement years.  Each year figuring out how to live on less as everything from a loaf of bread to a gallon of milk cost more.  

Health Care Costs

Health care costs are more than a bit scary.  At least for those like me who depend mostly on social security income for these retirement years.  I know that the natural remedies for high blood pressure for senior citizens should be on my radar.

This makes me more interested than ever in the healthy lifestyle improvements I need to make.   While researching the aging process, costs of health care always come up.

Drinking more water

The reading I have been doing about a healthier body. Just by drinking more water. Will then natural remedies make a difference?

This is making more sense.  Too often we attempt changing a few bad habits for better ones, only to abandon that when a new idea appears.  

Water drinking  appeals to my common sense as I study and work through the concept.  The very word “Paradigm” was a bit intimidating to me. 

The word “Paradigm?”  

I kind of skipped over it because I did not really know what it meant.  Do you?  Please indulge me a moment while I get this straight in my mind. 

We have  a “way of thinking”  that we build all other reasoning and learning on. 

However, if this is proven wrong, as in the case of thinking the world was flat until learning it is round.  

We accept other possibilities as our knowledge base shifts.  There is no longer the fear of falling off the edge of the earth.  

We now understand the earth is round.  The gravity field works to hold us all in place. 

Medical Doctors  

This same concept holds true when we accept the fact that Doctors do the best they can with the knowledge base they have. 

They are still practicing medicine with the ideas they acquired years ago in medical school.  The natural remedies were not very important.  

The Doctor wants to make us feel better.  To fix what needs fixing.  

So  we visit them for their advice for an ailment.   They do the best they can.  They attach a disease name to the ailment.  

Now, there is a path to treat you with. 

All too often the treatment is merely a maintenance step in the process.  The treatment is usually designed to disguise the issue, not cure it.  

The pain is gone, we are cured.  No, we are managing the issues. 

Of course, they do treat broken bones, gaping cuts, and many emergency conditions.

The natural remedies

However, when the condition develops over time, there is less of a cure, more of a maintenance approach.  You get the “try this” approach. 

Then if that does not work, call and he will “try” another medicine.  Never have the suggested the natural remedies for me.

They want to help us.  All too often, there is not really a medical answer.  The medicine usually makes you more comfortable but does not do away with the condition. 

Hopefully, the prescription will not have any side effects.  However, you must return to the Doctor’s office regularly for blood or urine testing to make sure. 

The Doctor often advises you that you will be taking this medication for the rest of your life.  

For the rest of your life

Is this what you want? 

No, I thought not.  Me either.  So maybe this healthier lifestyle is something I need to do more than read about.  Maybe I need to DO something. the natural remidies

I am already in the process of learning to drink more water to help lose some weight.  My Doctor had told me that I might be able to quit the high blood pressure medication.  If I lost 30 pounds.

Time to do something

So the drinking water to help with weight loss came into focus for me. 

I had lived with the medication for 4 years by now.   All the prescription is doing is maintaining.  

I need to lose some weight.  If something as simple as drinking more water would help me lose weight?  I can do it.

My old Paradigm

The  one that explained that 50 ounces of water a day was not enough. Increasing water drinking by adding more water to the daily diet.  Can the natural remedies help?

Would other parts of me respond as well?  According to what I had been reading, the lack of sufficient water caused my body to adapt to drought conditions. 

The other symptoms with the swollen joints  already are responding to more water in the diet.  (Read about  surprise benefits of drinking more water here.)  

What could be next?

Could the blood pressure respond as well?  I need to drink 75 ounces of water a day to just maintain my body’s needs. More to lose weight.

Where does this put the other parts of my body that were dehydrated as well?

As with most natural treatments, this is not an instant solution.

However, as long the other parts of the body seem to be handling the change.   Maybe even appreciating the addition of more water, I will continue to follow this program. 

My thinking has gone from dependence on a medical program to one that I can help heal myself.  Will I ever get the nerve to stop the medication?

Will things change with the natural remedies

Not immediately.  I will begin to monitor the blood pressure readings.  When I reach weight loss water amounts each day.  

I would like to be able to stop the medication. Will give my body some time to adjust to this new routine of drinking more water. 

I have been working with this for almost 6 months now.  I can easily drink 50 to 60 ounces a day.

Actually, I get thirsty for this much.  Then, there is the need to continue to add a few ounces a month. Eventually, I will reach the amount needed to be at the weight loss level. 

This is something I need to do to make retirement time a more healthy time. Will you be happier if you are not taking medication?  

Not visiting the Doctor to maintain your blood pressure issues?  Visiting the Dr. less will make out of pocket medical care less.  Yes, I do want to do what I can to cut medical care costs.

Will this be successful?  I do not know.  But as I study and understand more about what water does for us, I am more sure, of the shift in my thinking.

What about tomorrow

I know the pain from swollen joints could have been caused because of dehydration.  Many symptoms were apparent.  Now they are gone. 

Will they come back?  Yes, if I do not consume enough water every day.  Even the natural remedies must be maintained. Our bodies will eventually learn how to make us know it is thirsty.

The ideas discussed in Dr. F. Batanghelidj’s book, “Your Body’s Many Cries For Water”  have begun to create a base for me.  

Will you allow yourself to get lazy with your unhealthy lifestyle?  You can control some parts of this aging process.

Will you help make your retirement years as healthy as they can be?  Good health will enable Need more energyyou to have a happier life.
